New variety show 美发达人 The Hair Makeover Gurus, challenges hairstylists from eight salons to give models a hair makeover, while solving various hair dilemmas they have.

You may recognise a familiar face as the host of the 8-episode series is Aarah Wong, one of the artistes signed under actor Li Nanxing’s management company LNX Global. The show also features Pei Shi, a content creator known for her bubbly personality and beauty knowledge, who brings her friends onto the show for makeovers.
Aired monthly, the mPlay Asia series is powered by Goldwell and the hairstylists use the brand’s permanent hair colour, styling and homecare products.
Here’s what we know from the second episode:
In the second instalment, we see Pei Shi introduce her friend, Shirley. As a mother of two daughters, Shirley has been caught up with the duties of being both a full-time working adult and mother. This left her to neglect her appearance and she hadn’t been to a salon in a surprising two years! They turn to Jesly Teoh, a Master Trainer of Picasso Hair Studio, for help.
Jesly has 15 years of experience in the hair industry and prides herself in customising suitable hairstyles for her clients with an in-depth observation of their face shape, hair texture and skin tone. In the episode, we see that she performs a style analysis for Shirley as well to turn her from busy normal mum to a hot confident mum.
With a face shape that is slightly squared, Jesly proposes a side and fluffy bangs style to flatter her face shape more and add some energy into the look. She also suggests a shorter length to get rid of her dry bleached ends. With a skin tone that suits warmer colours, Shirley switches up to a warm-brown colour with pinkish brown highlights to compliment her complexion. Newance by Tophic and Silklift were used for this makeover and what were the results? A natural, low-maintenance hairstyle that lends Shirley an approachable demeanour.
